Since its Friday, we thought we would offer MBT’s expert dating advice for accountants who may be venturing out into the dating jungle this weekend and weren’t sure how to put their best foot forward.

Dating tips for male accountants:
1. Get your hair and style sorted. Get down to the barbers and get a decent style. If you don’t have much hair, get your head shaved. If your colleagues are still sporting the three piece popular with accountants in the 70’s, do not on any level take their advice on fashion. You can’t go wrong with a good quality, tailored suit.
2. Don’t let on that you are an accountant on the first date. If asked about your career, respond with ‘I work for X company’, rather than leading with ‘I am an accountant’. Even better if you work for a charity.
3. Don’t talk about work or you will bore your date.
4. Get your knowledge levels up. Make sure you are up to date with current affairs, watch the news and read quality papers – you cannot rely on conversation material such as the latest HMRC mandate, new tax incentives or the perils of payroll to win her over.
5. Just get your wallet out, don’t bring out a calculator to split the bill.

Dating tips for female accountants:
1. Always look great. Gorgeous hair and lipstick will still turn his head. Set aside part of your budget to invest in one piece of quality clothing per month. After all, you can afford to look great!
2. Never reveal information you don’t have to, for example your job. An enigmatic woman drives men wild.
3. Never pre-suppose anything about your date until you choose to know him better. You cannot always tell by looking. And dating another accountant may not be a bad thing.
4. If any man starts to show you his stamp collection or kicks off the conversation with “At the last warhammer convention…” run far, far away.
5. Just because you are good with numbers doesn’t mean you should pay pick up the bill.
